This flagship annual event, organised by ASTRI in collaboration with the Hong Kong Microelectronics Research and Development Institute (MRDI) and the Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI), brings together government representative, technology experts, and industry leaders from microelectronics and energy sectors to share insights and drive innovation.

ASTRI proudly secured two prestigious awards at the 2023-24 Hong Kong Industrial Awards (HKAI): the "Equipment and Machinery Design Award" and the "Equipment and Machinery Design Certificate of Merit".
The celebrated solution features innovative, eco-friendly direct current technology. This cutting-edge innovation contributes significantly to green building initiatives, aiding businesses in their journey of upgrading and transformation.

「科學為民」服務巡禮聯合政府多個部門及其他機構舉辦活動，目的是向市民介紹政府部門及相關機構的科學工作，以及如何應用科技提供公眾服務。在今年八月至十二月，「科學為民」會推出一連串以「科學向未來」為題的活動，包括論壇及講座、科學體驗活動、工作坊和參觀活動，歡迎公眾參與，了解科學如何提升我們的生活質素。

近年全球都致力減低碳排放，本港有科研機構研發出新的直流電電子系統，加強用電能源效益。
一般電力分為直流電和交流電，而由於交流電在使用上較安全，所以較為普及，一般入屋的就是交流電。
不過直流電的好處電壓穩定，如冷氣機等要長期用電的家庭電器，用直流電可更加節能。有科研機構就研發出可安全使用直流電的電子系統，並把入屋的交流電，全轉換成直流電，達致省電效果。
科研機構集成電路及系統副總監李天河指出：「由於我們現有的電源，也是交流電，所以便有一個交流(電)，變直流(電)的轉換，如果我們的電源，來到家中已經是直流電的話，便省卻了交流(電)轉直流(電)轉換，從而省卻了能源損耗。」
團隊說透過用中央轉換器，將交流電轉成直流電，可較現時方法節省百分之15的能源損耗。
要推廣直流電，第二步是為直流電研發專用的電子斷路器。
李天河稱：「我們做的電子斷路器，跟傳統的機械斷路器，內部結構就有很大分別，我們的電子斷路器裡面，它便是沒有機械，是全電子運作，所以是沒有機械動作，速度會比傳統斷路器快一百倍以上。 」
科研機構正在部分辦公室，檢視新系統的節能效果，並進行一系列模擬室外溫度和濕度測試，研究將系統安裝在室外的可能性。

ASTRI recently hosted an engaging seminar as part of our “AI Empowerment: Enhancing Industry Capabilities” Seminar Series, bringing over 110 attendees together with leading experts to explore AI’s transformative impact on the semiconductor value chain – from R&D and design automation through to commercialisation, while sharing insights on the current bottlenecks and the disruptive changes anticipated over the next three years.

Co-organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), HKSAR Government and Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, the E&M I&T Day 2025 was held earlier today. Our Acting CEO and Chief Technology Officer Dr Ying Huang was invited to speak at a seminar, where he shared insights on “Empowering Green Productivity: Integrated Innovations in New Energy, AI, IoT and Robotics”.

第二十六届中国国际高新技术成果交易会（以下简称“高交会”）14日在深圳国际会展中心（宝安新馆）开幕。本届高交会上，来自河套深圳园区的深圳应科院聚焦“AI＋治理”，带来了前沿的通讯技术、电子电力及ESG解决方案，其中V2G挂墙式电动汽车充电桩，是基于第三代半导体的高效率双向充电放系统，具有V2G功能，可以将电动汽车电池电量反馈到电网。该技术不仅应用于智能交通系统、电动汽车，还广泛支持工业、能源管理等场景，有效助力智慧城市和高效能源的可持续发展。

"Advanced Lighting System" is a very efficient large-scale lighting system powered by ASTRI’s advanced direct current (DC) power conversion, protection, and cloud-based monitoring and control technologies for green architecture applications. It is a sustainable green solution that best fit with photovoltaic power and battery storage integrations to achieve zero carbon dioxide emission, saving energy and electricity cost by more than 20%.

The Smart Power-Hub (SPH) plays a critical role in converting power from renewable energy such as solar and wind power, which are often generated in DC form, into AC form for use and interconnects the electric grid to Electric Vehicle (EV), home appliance and Energy Storage System.

CEO Dr Denis Yip demonstrate their collaboration works with a China research institute and electrical equipment supplier to commoditise their innovative, energy saving DC technology for future application in various environment and business , in order to expand their opportunities.

A power equipment manufacturer in mainland China introduces how and why property developer in China adopt DC power station for their property projects. Dr. River Tin-ho LI from ASTRI will present how their high-efficient power supply system could lead to a reduction of electricity usage in different applications.

In Hong Kong ICT Smart Living (Smart Home) Award 2021 competition, The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) won Silver award for Power supply system for carbon neutral building technology.
